- Get moving
Go for a one hour walk out in nature. Ideally, you want to avoid distractions such as listening to music while doing this. Try to stay present and completely engage your senses. This will have a relaxing effect on your nervous system and allow you to feel more at ease.
- Read a good book
It is impossible to worry while you are fully involved in a great story. Uplifting stories are a plus!
- Try some breathing exercises
Deep breathing is a simple but very effective stress reliever. This practice activates a part of our brain that is responsible for making the body feel at ease. Most of us do not take time to really breath. Not breathing deeply or properly contributes to anxious feelings and the inability to cope with such feelings.
- Listen to relaxing sounds
These can help you let go of disturbing thoughts and experience inner peace. In addition, listening to relaxing music may help you get inspire and enhance creativity.
- Surround yourself with positive people
Your environment will influence your mood; surround yourself with uplifting friends because positivity is contagious!
- Try a coloring book
Coloring needs attention and focus. This is helpful because as mentioned before if you are focus on a task, you cannot be worrying at the same time. It is also a form of meditation to calm your thoughts. My personal favorites are mandala coloring books with beautiful patterns.
- Give EFT (Emotional Freedom technique) a try
EFT is very similar to acupuncture, but it does not require needles. It is a tapping technique that allows you to release trapped energy (stress) from your body.
If stress is something that is very likely to prevent you from losing weight, then these tips are really important for you to focus on while you are on a weight loss journey. Don’t give up; we know this journey is not easy! Think of the reason why you wanted to lose weight in the first place and really focus on that.
