How Do I know If I Have Plantar Fasciitis?

I have noticed 95% of patients that come into the clinic for foot and ankle pain and are
told they have plantar fasciitis. Although plantar fasciitis is a common injury of the foot, it
seems as if physicians use plantar fasciitis as their diagnosis for most foot pain and that
is not always the case.
Often times people with plantar fasciitis or other foot injuries get a misdiagnosis and
never figure out what is wrong or how to treat it properly, which causes chronic foot
pain, decrease in activity and quality of life. For instance many patients with Plantar
Fasciitis are told they have Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction a Sprained Ankle or
vise versa.
So we’ll take the guessing out. Below are the common signs and symptoms of common
foot and ankle injuries.
3 Common Signs and Symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis
1. Pain on the bottom of heel
2. Pain is worse with rising in the morning or after long periods of walking
3. Tight calves
3 Common Signs and Symptoms of Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction
1. A decrease or complete collapse of your foot’s arch
2. Pain near the inside ankle NOT the bottom of your heel
3. Unable to raise your heel off the ground when completing a heel raise
3 Common Signs and Symptoms of an Ankle Sprain
1. Swelling of the inside and sometimes the whole ankle
