Back Pain Injuries and Conditions We Treat at Hohman Rehab in Apopka
Degenerative Disc Disease, Arthritis, and Stenosis
Degenerative disc disease, arthritis, and spinal stenosis are related conditions that involve age- or stress-related changes in the spine, where decreased disc hydration and joint irritation can reduce space around nerves and cause pain.
Lumbago
Lumbago is a general term for low back pain in the lumbar region when a specific diagnosis has not yet been confirmed.
Sciatica and Nerve Pain
Sciatica refers to pain or other symptoms that travel along the sciatic nerve, which starts from several nerve roots in the lower back and sacral area, joins near the buttock, and runs down the back of the leg into the foot. When this nerve is irritated or compressed by structures such as muscle, bone, or disc, pain, tingling, or numbness can follow the path of the nerve.
Spondylolisthesis
Spondylolisthesis occurs when one of the vertebrae—most often in the lower back—shifts forward or backward in relation to the rest of the spine. This shift can develop gradually as an adaptive response to load or from a specific injury.
Discogenic Pain
Discogenic pain refers to pain coming from the discs between the vertebrae—soft, flexible structures with a tough outer layer and a gel-like center that naturally deform as we move.
Musculo-Ligamentous Strain
Musculo-ligamentous strain refers to pain arising from the muscles and ligaments that support and move your spine. These tissues can become overworked from repetitive use or a sudden high load, triggering nerve endings that send strong pain signals to the brain. In response, your nervous system may limit how far you can move and how much force nearby muscles can produce.

Neck and Back Pain in Apopka FAQs
Neck and Back Pain therapy is a physical therapy program focused on reducing pain, restoring mobility, and improving the strength and movement patterns that support your spine. At our Apopka clinic, we identify what’s driving your symptoms and build a plan that helps you move better and stay better.
Yes. We assess the source of your symptoms, then combine mobility work, nerve-sensitive positions, and progressive strengthening to calm irritation and restore function.
Absolutely. We’ll address joint/tissue mobility, then fit posture and ergonomic strategies to your day so sitting and driving feel more comfortable.
We work with many plans and can review your benefits before the first visit. Prefer self-pay? We’ll outline straightforward options at our Apopka PT clinic.

Yes! Brief, targeted exercises that support what we do in our Apopoka clinic and keep results moving forward.
Should there be any problem, we ask that you talk to us. In most cases we find that a little communication and education goes a long way. Just call us to speak with us, email your therapist or speak with them on your next visit. It’s YOUR body and YOUR therapy. We want you understanding WHAT you’re doing and WHY you’re doing it.
If you experience an increase in pain or soreness, it may be okay to use heat or ice, but make sure to speak with your therapist about how to use it safely and effectively.
There are two types of soreness. A “good sore” is when muscles that haven’t been used properly start working in a more normal fashion. This is great and necessary for improvement. A “bad sore” is when your primary, or another pain increases. We will always educate you on listening to your body, in that we do not want to cause more pain. Pain is your body’s way of saying, “please take a detour in the treatment to get to the final outcome”. If your “bad” pain increases, you can always contact the office or your physical therapist directly via email.
If it’s an emergency situation, call 911. If it’s bearable but you are concerned, call us immediately. If it’s bearable and it occurs often, you may ice or heat it. Ask your therapist to learn what is best for you.
One injury can create severe problems. Don’t wait!
