Many women quietly struggle with pelvic discomfort, bladder changes, or pain during everyday activities — but they often don’t talk about it. It can feel awkward or even embarrassing. You may wonder, “Is this normal?” or “Do other people go through this?”
If that sounds familiar, you are not alone — and there is hope.
Hello, my name is Dr. Rosaura, PT, DPT (she/her). I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy with specialized training in pelvic health through Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. This expertise allows me to gently assess and treat the pelvic floor muscles, tissues, and nerves to help improve strength, comfort, and function in this incredibly important area of the body.
My passion lies in helping women who experience:
Pain with intimacy
Urinary leakage with coughing, laughing, sneezing, or exercise
Urgency and strong urges to urinate
Pelvic pressure or pelvic organ prolapse symptoms
Core weakness or postpartum changes
Pelvic health is deeply personal, and too often these concerns are brushed off as “just part of being a woman.” But you deserve to feel strong, confident, and in control of your body. Pelvic health challenges are common — and highly treatable with the right care.
Why Pelvic Health Matters So Much
The pelvic floor might be hidden, but it plays a powerful role in everyday life. These muscles support your core, bladder, bowel, and sexual function. When they aren’t working the way they should, it can impact your confidence, comfort, and ability to do the things you love.
Healthy pelvic function helps you:
Stay active without pain
Control bladder and bowel movements
Enjoy comfortable intimacy
Maintain core stability and good posture
Feel confident and comfortable in your body
When these muscles become tight, weak, or uncoordinated, symptoms can appear slowly or suddenly. You may notice leakage when you exercise, a heaviness in the pelvis by the end of the day, or discomfort that makes daily routines harder than they should be. Many women think they simply have to “deal with it,” especially after childbirth or menopause — but that is not true.
Common Concerns Pelvic Therapy Can Help With
Pelvic floor therapy is designed to address the underlying root causes, not just the symptoms. Some of the most common conditions we help with include:
Pelvic pain and pain with intimacy
Pain during sexual activity is never “just normal” — and you don’t have to push through it. Gentle pelvic therapy can help restore comfort and ease.
Stress incontinence
If you leak when you laugh, sneeze, cough, or jump, your pelvic floor may need retraining. Strengthening and coordination strategies can help you feel more confident and active again.
Urge incontinence and overactive bladder
Rushing to the bathroom or feeling sudden urges can be stressful. Pelvic therapy can support better bladder control and calm those feelings of urgency.
Pelvic organ prolapse
A feeling of heaviness or pressure in the pelvic area can be helped with strengthening, breathing techniques, and body mechanics to support your organs and reduce symptoms.
Postpartum pelvic changes
Childbirth can change the pelvic floor — but with proper guidance, healing and strength can be restored naturally and safely.
These symptoms may be common, but they are not something you “just have to live with.” Your comfort and confidence matter.
A Safe, Inclusive, and Supportive Healing Space
Pelvic concerns are personal, and many women feel nervous bringing them up. I understand how vulnerable it can feel to discuss these intimate challenges. My goal is to create a supportive, private, and judgment-free environment where you feel safe asking questions and sharing your experience.
Everyone deserves access to quality pelvic care, including communities that may not always feel seen. I am proud to speak English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole, so patients can communicate in the language that feels most comfortable to them. Pelvic health should feel welcoming, inclusive, and empowering — not intimidating.
